Welcome to
Beautiful Green Lake
The Green Lake neighborhood is a great place to work,
play, visit, and live. Green Lake businesses are thriving and popular
Green Lake restaurants serve delectable food that is lauded by food editors
and customers alike. Green Lake homes are in high demand. and Green Lake
Park is possibly the most popular park in the State of Washington.
Every day people from all parts of the city and county come to enjoy the
lake, the path, and the many activities available year-round. Our neighborhood
schools serve students from throughout the city and our library is one
of the busiest (indicating that it serves as a regional resource as much
as a neighborhood library) in the city. The old West Green Lake Beach
bathhouse now houses the Seattle Public Theater, an exciting resource
for quality entertainment and community participation.
The Green
Lake Community Council
The Green Lake Community Council (GLCC) is an organization
dedicated to making Green Lake an even a better place for those of us
who live here, who work here and who visit here, through our involvement,
advocacy, sharing, and caring. That is our vision. See About
Us for our mission statement and current activities.
Friends of
Green Lake
With the overwhelming popularity of our lake, many people
are concerned about maintaining the beauty and viability of the lake for
future generations. The Friends of Green Lake, a part of the Community
Council, are addressing the issues of algae, wildlife habitat, and growth
of plants like milfoil. See the Friends
of Green Lake home page for for more information about the Friends
of Green Lake activities.

BISHOP BLANCHET H.S. TO
HOLD OPEN HOUSE
7 PM JAN 25 TO EXPLAIN ZONING VARIANCE
Neighbors of Bishop Blanchet H.S. recently became aware of a Zoning Variance
application (Project # 3011252) by Blanchet to install new 70-foot tall
light poles and four new speakers 30 feet above grade around their athletic
field.
Alarmed, immediate neighbors expressed their concern about excessive light
and noise and asked that other solutions be found to improve the field.
In response, Blanchet Principal Kristin Brynildsen-Smith set up a Jan
25 Open House. In her letter to neighbors, she wrote:
"Thank you for your comments ... we would like the opportunity to meet
with you to answer [your] questions.. Bishop Blanchet invites you to an
Open House at Bishop Blanchet HS, Haggerty Hall on Wednesday, Jan 25,
from 7:00 to 8:00 pm."
The school's senior administrators and the project design team will be available to answer questions about
the project.
For complete text of the letter click here.
The Permit information and status is available here.
It's not too late to comment. All comments sent to DPD project facilitator
Stephanie Haynes via email or U.S. Mail will be added to the project file
and considered through out the process.
For more information you can call
the DPD Public Resource Center at (206) 684-8850 or visit

COMING
SOON to the Historic Green Lake Bathhouse Theater
Audiences will laugh (and cry) their way into the New Year with
the Tony Award-winning comedy, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are
Dead, by Tom Stoppard, running January 27th-February
19th, 2012. Zany humor, quicksilver wordplay, gripping tension and
a heady swirl of ideas all come together in this story of two nobodies
who long to star in their own story.
Seattle Public Theater's revival, directed by Artistic and Education
Director Shana Bestock, casts local actresses in traditionally
male roles. Visit the Seattle
Public Theater website. For more information.
